Cooking at home with real ingredients is amazing. You can choose everything that goes (or doesn't go) into a dish and meals are healthier because of it.
But...every now and then—even the best of chefs—have a kitchen glitch. Maybe the phone rang and you got distracted. Maybe someone came to the door and the dog wouldn't stop barking. Maybe you just were daydreaming about how delicious your recipe was going to turn out.
It doesn't matter how it happened, but when your kitchen pots and pans get scorched—this is a really easy (almost no scrubbing needed!), chemical free way to clean your burnt stainless steel cookware. Seriously, these are our first hand experiences trying this kitchen hack. We were amazed with this simple pan saving technique and its sparkling results!

Easy Way To Clean Burnt Pots & Pans With NO Chemicals
Here's what you'll need:
- White Vinegar
- Water
- Baking Soda
Step 1:
Pour white vinegar in the pot and add some water. Bring to a boil and allow mixture to boil several minutes.
Step 2:
Shut off heat, but leave cooking pot sitting on warm burner. Carefully dump in some baking soda—it WILL fizz! (If you watch, you'll be able to see the fizzing action "breaking up" the burnt and scorched damage.)
This step took a few minutes. We added more baking soda a couple times when the exciting fizzing action seemed to die down.
Step 3:
Once the liquid and cooking pot has cooled enough to manage, take it over to your kitchen sink. Pour some of the vinegar water liquid out and using a non-abrasive scrub sponge, give it a little scrub.
This is where we were thoroughly impressed...it barely took any scrubbing effort at all to basically "wipe away" any leftover burnt areas. If yours is being more stubborn than ours was, you can repeat the steps above, or just try adding some non-toxic dish soap and scrub a little more with that.
Step 4:
Give your pot a good rinse clean and admire your beautiful, sparkling stainless steel pot—as good as new!!!
It's okay if you wanna show it off. We totally understand. ;) Truthfully, that's why we're sharing this awesome kitchen hack on our blog.
Dishes are part of cooking and eating at home, but clean up doesn't have to be miserable. And burnt on food—or in this case, a pot that was steaming organic broccoli, but didn't have enough water in it to continue steaming—certainly doesn't have to mean throwing your cookware away.
With simple eco-conscious efforts like these, we can all keep cooking and cleaning as healthy as possible, avoiding waste—all without the use of harsh chemicals!
